Treating panic attacks is a particular speciality of the Biofeedback Counseling Center. Krystal Angevine has developed a novel approach for treating panic attacks and related anxiety, combining both biofeedback and Somatic Experiencing therapy.
We also specialize in the treatment of trauma. Trauma begins with a boundary breach, whether it be from a motor vehicle accident, medical procedure, abuse, or other event. The symptoms of trauma can occur when the body and mind do not have time to mobilize an effective defensive response (often called the "Fight or Flight" response). By treating the root causes of trauma, these symptoms can often be reduced or eliminated.
For some people, both anxiety and depression occur together. Krystal has developed a unique protocol for working with these dual conditions. We utilize several cutting edge therapies, including biofeedback, IFS, and SE, to address anxiety and depression issues. We can also measure your levels of anxiety and depression over time, so that you can see your improvement.
Grief is a natural process that occurs with great loss. We have found both EMDR and Repair and Reattachment Grief Therapy to be especially helpful for many people experiencing grief.
Despite their best intentions, many couples develop unhelpful communication patterns and ruts that can interfere with their ability to connect. We work with couples to identify and change those patterns in order to enhance their sense of connectedness.
Difficulty sleeping is a problem affecting many people, which sometimes manifests as nightmares or insomnia. We have experience helping people to restore more peaceful and restful sleep.
Chronic pain is another issue that affects many people. We have several approaches that can be helpful in working with and easing the suffering associated with all types of pain.
Anger is often a protective mechanism that defends us from other, deeper issues. We provide individualized therapies to help clients work with feelings of anger by addressing the underlying causes.
